rites of passage - Geelong, Bellarine & surf coast

A modern rite of passage for young people — designed to awaken self-awareness, forge resilience, and reconnect families, mentors, and communities through shared meaning and responsibility.

A rite of passage that strengthens young people — and the adults who guide them

Ages 12–17 is a pivotal season. Young people are forming identity, testing boundaries, and craving independence — while still needing steady guidance, belonging, and trust. DIIGG’s modern Rites of Passage supports this transition through a structured, nature-based journey that strengthens self-awareness, resilience, and relationships.

DIIGG brings years of experience delivering youth wellbeing experiences and Rites of Passage work across our community and school partnerships.

Our delivery is supported by 13+ local certified facilitators, enabling us to hold safe, well-resourced group containers and deliver with consistency, care, and depth.

Rites of Passage Camp (ages 12–17)

Most camps run 2 nights / 3 days, with flexibility to suit the school or community context.

Young people can attend through either:

  • Child + Guardian Camps, where a parent/guardian joins the young person (Mum & Son, Mum & Daughter, Dad & Son, Dad & Daughter), strengthening trust and communication through shared experience.

  • Group / Team Camps, where young people attend with selected adult leaders (coaches, teachers, mentors, support staff). This format helps reinforce positive culture and gives adult leaders the tools and language to support integration back in the group environment.

The Camp Journey

Separation

We step out of the “everyday” environment and into a safe, supported container in nature. This phase establishes safety, respect, and belonging through clear agreements, supportive facilitation, and a culture that helps young people (and adults) slow down and become present.

Transformation (Challenge + Vision + Recognition)

This is where the deeper shift happens. Participants move through a carefully supported process that includes:

  • Challenge — age-appropriate experiences that build courage, resilience, and self-trust
  • Vision — reflection that helps young people clarify values, identity, and who they want to become
  • Recognition — guided acknowledgement that reinforces strengths, growth, and positive direction

Integration

Because we’re local, the journey doesn’t end when camp finishes. We support ongoing integration across the Geelong, Surf Coast, and Bellarine region through follow-up programs and touchpoints for young people and adults — helping insights translate into everyday behaviour, strengthening communication, and giving families, mentors, and communities practical ways to keep the growth alive at home, at school, and in teams.
