rites of passage - Geelong, Bellarine & surf coast
A modern rite of passage for young people — designed to awaken self-awareness, forge resilience, and reconnect families, mentors, and communities through shared meaning and responsibility.

A weekend that brings you and your child closer
The years between 10–17 move fast — and it’s not always easy to stay connected through the changes.
DIIGG’s Rites of Passage camps are a chance to step away from the everyday and share a device-light weekend in nature filled with fun, laughter, shared adventures, and meaningful moments that strengthen your bond — without it feeling heavy or awkward.
This isn’t about being a “perfect parent.” It’s about showing up, spending real time together, and creating memories you’ll both carry.
A local team you can trust
DIIGG has years of experience delivering youth and family wellbeing experiences across our region, alongside community and school partnerships.
We’re a local not-for-profit, and we care deeply about creating safe, positive experiences that young people actually enjoy — and that parents feel comfortable in.
Our camps are supported by 15+ certified local facilitators, which means the weekend is well-organised, well-supported, and calm from start to finish.
Rites of Passage Camps (Ages 10–17)
Most camps run 2 nights / 3 days, with flexibility depending on the group and setting.
Young people can attend in two ways:
Parent + Child Camps
(Mother & Son, Mother & Daughter, Father & Son, Father & Daughter)
A guided weekend designed to build connection through shared experiences — nature time, games, simple challenges, campfires, and structured moments that help communication happen naturally.
Group / Team Camps
For groups attending with trusted adults (coaches, teachers, mentors, support staff).
This format builds a stronger culture within the group through shared adventure, teamwork and a positive, supportive environment — and gives leaders simple tools to keep the momentum going back in everyday life.
What the Camp Weekend Feels Like
We keep the experience active, warm, and engaging. There are meaningful moments, but we don’t force anything. Most of the magic happens through shared time together.
You can expect:
- Fun outdoor activities (walks, nature games, challenges)
- Campfire time and stories
- Plenty of laughter and movement
- A device-light environment that makes it easier to connect
- Space for real conversations to happen naturally
- A simple closing moment to celebrate the weekend and the effort everyone put in
After Camp
Because DIIGG Wellbeing is local, we’re here beyond the weekend. Families and groups can stay connected through optional follow-up touch points and local opportunities — so any positives from camp can carry into home, school, and everyday life.

FAQs
Is this like therapy?
No. It’s a guided weekend away in nature with fun activities, simple challenges, and connection time. It’s designed to feel safe, relaxed, and enjoyable.
Will my child be put on the spot or forced to share?
No. We never force sharing. Young people can participate in a way that feels comfortable, and we create an environment where connection happens naturally.
What if my child is shy, anxious, or not sure they want to come?
That’s common. Our team is used to working with all personality types. The weekend includes games, movement, and practical activities that help young people settle in without pressure.
Do parents have to “do lots of emotional work”?
No. This isn’t about being a perfect parent or getting everything right. The camp is mostly shared experiences, fun, and simple guided moments that strengthen connection.
What about phones and devices?
We aim for minimal devices so families can be present. Parents can keep a phone for essential contact if needed, but we encourage keeping it away during activities.
Do I need to be super fit?
Not at all. Activities are designed to be accessible and adaptable. If you have concerns, just let us know and we’ll work with you.
What’s included?
Facilitation, activities, group gear, and the camp structure are all included. You’ll receive an info pack with what to bring (it’s simple) and all the logistics before the camp.
Is it safe?
Yes. Camps are run by trained facilitators, with clear supervision, safety planning, and risk management in place. We also collect key health and emergency details before the weekend.
